Smithtown NY Mold Job; more than i expected

I was recently hired by a homeowner in Smithtown, New York, for what was supposed to be a routine mold removal job. They had spotted some mold in one corner of the basement and only wanted me to tackle just that area. When I arrived, we started our prep work. Setting up containments, bringing in the equipment and re-locating contetns from the area. Thats when i made the unusual discovery.

Tucked behind a wooden storage cabinet there was more than just ordinary mold growth—it was a full-blown fungal invasion. I found clusters of mushroom-like fungal growth, spreading along the bottom of the sheetrock wall and starting to take over parts of the wooden furniture. It reminded me of the video game The Last of Us.

I immediately brought it to the customers attention as i had to now discard of the 2 pieces of affected furniture and of course share my findings as they were un aware as was I. Once we shared some small talk over the fungus it was time to continue the job.

Once the containments were up and the HEPA air filtration machines on, affected sheetrock walls, insulation, laminate flooring and even plywood sub flooring were removed and discarded. The areas were then cleaned with HEPA vacuum, wire brushing and damp wiping methods followed by a treatment of botanical disinfectant
